Frequently Asked Questions
My books are currently a mess (or non-existent). Can you help me catch up? +
Yes. Clean-Up and Catch-Up projects are our specialty. We can import past bank data, categorize historical transactions, and reconcile accounts to bring you current with complete financial statements for every missing month.
Do I need to bring physical receipts to you? +
No. Our practice is 100% digital and paperless. You snap a photo of receipts with an app or forward email invoices to a dedicated address. We handle filing and matching digitally.
Do I need to register with the City of Portland if I work from home? +
Yes. Almost all business activities within Portland city limits require registration with the City of Portland Revenue Division. You may be exempt from the Business License Tax if gross receipts are under $50,000 (City) or $100,000 (Multnomah County).
Do you file my annual tax return (Form 1040/1120S)? +
No. We specialize in bookkeeping, which is the foundation of a successful tax return. We provide clean, audit-ready financials to your CPA who files the actual tax return.
Will you judge me for how bad my books are? +
Never. We are a Judgment-Free Zone. Our job is to solve the problem, not lecture you. We have seen businesses with shoeboxes of receipts and zero digital records.
How much does a clean-up cost? +
It depends on volume. We charge a flat project fee, typically starting at $750, so you know the exact cost upfront.
How far back can you go for a clean-up? +
As far as necessary. We commonly handle clean-ups for the past 1–3 years and can build financials for back taxes for any prior year.
Do I need payroll if I only have 1099 contractors? +
Yes, but a Lite version. You need a system to collect W-9s and file 1099s. We offer a Contractor Compliance package specifically for this.
